MOUNTAIN TOWN BRASS CONCERT HANDS ACROSS THE SEA

Mountain Town Brass, mid-Michigan’s newest British-style brass band, will perform a free concert entitled Hands Across the Sea Sunday April 23 at 7:00pm in the Wilson Center Auditorium, 101 W. Cass Street, St. Johns, MI

This unique program features brass and percussion settings of works by American and European composers as well as several featured soloists. Mountain Town Brass, formed in 2016, is an elite brass ensemble in the virtuosic British brass band tradition, successfully blending impeccable musical virtuosity with an enjoyable audience-friendly ambience.

Music Director Travis Scott describes the program: “We’re featuring two major ‘firsts’: Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue arranged for brass, (which represents America’s first classical hit), and Fletcher Henderson’s Labour and Love which was the first original piece used at the U.K. National Band Contest in 1913. In addition we are performing the music of Wagner, Bizet and will feature soloists Thomas Gillette (baritone), Kay Crowley (tenor horn), and Colin Guimond (euphonium).”
